Worth the Wait.

Saturday, December 7, 2013, was one of the most amazing days of my life thus far! My sweet Nicholas Cooper asked me to marry him and I wanted to write it for the record, my thoughts and my feelings, because it was absolutely perfect and  I want to be able to look back and reminisce on how the day went!

So here goes...

Thursday, Dec. 6, we had a big snow/ice storm roll into Oklahoma City in the afternoon, which I absolutely loved, because who doesn't love snow?! I love how beautiful a nice blanket of snow looks on the ground, so pretty! More snow came in over the night into Friday, which caused many people to be snowed in, which I'm sure no one minded too much =] My mom sister and aunts had scheduled to go over to my sisters on Saturday for Christmas cookie baking, but that had to be cancelled due to the weather. I was sad, but kinda grateful, because I love getting to lay around and not shower and stay in sweats on the weekends, especially with it cold outside! It is a good excuse to try to snuggle up to Nick hahaha, but not only that, the OU/OSU game was on and I wanted to really watch every min of the game, because if OU were to beat OSU, it would be a big upset to the Stilly fans and I wanted to witness it!
So Saturday, Nick and I got to lounge around watching the Bedlam game in our sweats and just hangout. The game was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness!!! Ok even if you were a Cowboys fan, you'd still have to admit the game was GOOD! OU ended up winning (Yay!) but it was a fun game, because it kept going back and forth with scoring and was action filled! So we had a great time watching the Sooners bring home the WIN. During the game, Nick had mentioned he needed to go out to check on his houses..
( Nick started his own company, Redstone Custom Homes, and he works very hard at making sure he is there at every step of the way with his contractors and clients, so he is always running out to his
current houses to check on the status and make sure everything looks good and everyone's happy. His dad and brother work with him too and they all have that same trait!)
..we also needed to go to the grocery store, because it had been a few weeks and we needed some things, so he said he could go to his houses and I could run to the store, then when we get back we could go grab some dinner then maybe see a movie. He also suggested that we should get ready before we ran the errands so we'd be ready for dinner..
( Hindsight: He suggested that, because if he didn't, he knew I would most likely go to wal-mart dressed and looking like the people on that website "the people of wal-mart" haha because on the weekends..well..if you've seen me.. You know.)
So we got ready and I went to wal-mart. When I was about to check out, I had called Nick because I wanted to see if we could make dinner plans with Moni and Johnny, because they were available to do something, so he said we would talk about it when I got back and he asked me to call him when I got to the car, so he would know to help me bring stuff in. So, I called him on my back and I was like, " so do you think we can make dinner plans with our friends tonight? Where were we planning on going?" And Nick said, " you'll never believe what happened..One of my clients was at their house when I went to check on it and he said him and his wife stayed at this cottage rental last night in Guthrie for a small getaway and he loved the fireplace there and he wants me to build this fireplace in their home and wants me to go look at it tonight, before they have to give the keys back." I was like, " are you serious? Tell him no! It is Saturday night and what if you wouldn't have even gone out there?!" He was like, " well he said he was about to call me about it." So I just said ok that's fine, then I texted my friends and told them we had a change of plans to run up to Guthrie, so I didn't know when we would be able to meet up. I got back and nick helped me unload the groceries, then we jumped in his truck to go check out this cottage fireplace. We were just driving along and I asked, "so he just gave you the key and gave you directions to this place?" Nick said, "yup" and he said he could just go in take a few pics then we could talk about dinner. We finally get there after going down some back roads, and we pull into the place and they are little single cottages that are so cute and we drive down to this one that is called the French Hen. We pull up and I asked Nick if I should go in, and he said, " if you want to." So, I decided to hop out so I could see what the inside of the place looks like! We get to the front door and there is a sign that is turned around.. For a sec. I thought about turning it over but then I didn't, because I just wanted to get in and make it quick. When we walked in, I noticed to my right, there were cookies sitting on a tray and my first though was.."I am going to steal a cookie on the way out!" Then I walk I some more and notice this fireplace on the left and look at it and say, " what in the heck ? There is nothing really special about this fireplace?" Then I kept walking through and nick said " hey come here" so I walked over to him in front of the bed, and he dropped to one knee!!!!! I just immediately froze. I thought he was kidding at first, and I actually said , " oh my gosh are you kidding me???!?!?" Hahaha I didn't know what else to say I was just in shock! Then I just broke out crying and he said some sweet things that involved wanting to spend the rest of his life with me and loving me with his whole heart and then asked me to marry him!!!!!! but I can't really remember exactly what was said, because my stomach was in knots and felt like a stomach feels when you're on a roller coaster! I was just soooooo happy and had so many emotions going through my head! It was the best feeling in the whole entire world!!! I think I said "yes" to his question but I honestly don't remember that real well either! Haha but we just hugged and kissed and it was so perfect! Then I look and see my mom and sister waving at me in the window and I got even more confused!!! I just had no idea what was going on! So they came in and congratulated us, then Nick told me that we were actually staying at this place for the night! I was sooo excited and still just stunned! He said he had to pack our bags and get our stuff together while I was at wal mart! I literally just had no idea about any of this and I didn't even know he had gotten a ring! He just completely planned all of this and somehow pulled it off! He also had dinner reservations at Gage's Steakhouse in Guthrie, so we had a lovely celebratory dinner that night.

That night was literally the best night ever! I never want to forget how I felt when he proposed. I know everyone talks about how great it is, but until you experience the man of your dreams asking you to live and grow old together with him in real life, nothing is comparable. I just kept tearing up throughout the evening just thinking about what just happened. We are getting married!!! Omg.. We are getting married!! I have been waiting for this moment all of my life! But more importantly, I had been waiting/ wanting/ hoping for Nick to ask me for a long time. I wanted it to be him. It just touched my heart so much seeing how much time and effort he put into this decision. We had had the conversion many years ago about both of us only wanting to get married once. Marriage is a big deal.  He is the first, only, and last person to ever ask me that question and he really made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Our story and our journey is not just now beginning..it is continuing. Continuing to get richer, fuller, more blessed, and much deeper than we could ever imagine. God has been so good to us and I think one thing that we both have learned throughout our time together is patience is the key. Everything is best at God's timing. Nick and I met back in the fall of 2008, we didn't know what we were getting into, but each year has gotten better and better. Dec. 7, 2013 will always be a precious day written on my heart. I wouldn't have had it happen any other way with any other person. He was worth the wait.

Below are some pictures of the place and of my ring, which I absolutely LOVE!!!  The place was so personalized and the front door sign actually had welcome Kaytie and Nick written in it and my mom and sister had turned it around so it didn't ruin the surprise!

Below is the supposedly "amazing fireplace" that he had to check out for a client... haha
My beautiful ring that Nick spent a long time picking out and making sure it was perfect! I love love the etching on the side!
